Dermal Fillers
Restylane
Restylane smoothes wrinkles and enhances
lips instantly. If you would like to get rid of wrinkles and folds
or if you want to improve the image of your lips, there is a new
answer to your needs. Restylane is an innovation based on non-animal
hyaluronic acid, manufactured by a unique method in the Q-Med Laboratories
in Sweden. Injecting Restylane into the skin or lip performs the
treatment, and because no pre-test is needed it takes less than
30 minutes. Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the body and therefore
it also dissolves naturally with time. Restylane has been used extensively
in Europe, Canada and South America for years, and the results so
far have been extremely positive.
How long the effect of Restylane treatment lasts is
very individual. It depends on many factors such as the structure
of the skin, lifestyle and age as well as on the degree of perfection
demanded by the individual. However, we know that for the majority
of the patients treated about 50-80% of the effect remains after
6 months. Most people choose to have a touch-up done within a year
of the original treatment.
The great thing about Restylane is that you can replenish
your natural beauty whenever you feel the need. A touch-up can be
performed any time you like after the previous treatment.
Restylane has been used safely by dermatologists and
plastic surgeons since 1996 worldwide. Because Restylane is non-animal-based
and fully biocompatible, allergy testing is not required. There
is virtually no risk of animalbased disease transmission or allergic
reaction. The most commonly reported side effects were temporary
redness and swelling at the injection site. These effects typically
resolve within two to three days.
Dermal fillers have been around in various forms for over 25 years.
Today, injectable fillers restore lost volume and structure in the
soft tissue of the face, fill in facial lines and creases and enhance
facial features. Areas that may benefit from facial contouring include
sunken cheeks, lower eyelid depressions and lifting effects to the
outer eyebrows. Re-defining and enhancing the lips may be achieved
beautifully and naturally with the dermal fillers now available.
Many practitioners today are offering to their clients the option
of combination treatment where pairing products can provide optimal,
three-dimensional results. Dermal fillers may be categorized as
temporary, semi-permanent or partially permanent as the results
of treatment will lessen over time as one continues to age. Despite
the variance in longevity, maintenance is essential for continued
results. Inquire with your practitioner how long the product/s are
expected to last based upon the type, amount used and specific areas
treated.

Restylane
FAQ's
What is Restylane?
Restylane is a safe and natural cosmetic
dermal filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin
to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such
as nasolabial folds.
What is Restylane made of?
Restylane is the first and only cosmetic dermal filler made
of non-animal-based hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a
natural substance that already exists in the human body and
is used to provide volume and fullness to the skin. The hyaluronic
acid in Restylane is a crystal-clear gel called NASHATM, or
Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic
Acid. NASHA is biodegradable and completely
biocompatible with human hyaluronic acid.
How is Restylane different than other hyaluronic
acid-based products?
Unlike other hyaluronic acid-based products, such
as those made from rooster combs, only Restylane is non-animal-based.
This quality virtually eliminates any risk of animal-based
disease transmission or allergic reaction.
How is Restylane different from Botox®?
Restylane is a natural, cosmetic filler. In contrast,
Botox is a drug that blocks nerve transmission and relaxes
the underlying muscles. Many patients have been very pleased
after receiving treatment with both products.
How is Restylane different from bovine collagen?
Restylane is proven to deliver a longer-lasting effect than
traditional collagen, with virtually no risk of animal-based
disease transmission or allergic reaction. In addition, bovine
collagen is derived from animals (cow) and requires an allergy
test. Because Restylane is non-animal-based, it can be administered
without pretesting, so no waiting is required.
